ABOUT THE PARK

The Counterbalance Park is relatively level, 12,000 square feet, bordered on two sides by streets and two sides by condominiums.

A variety of neighborhood residential and commercial buildings are visible from the site. Queen Anne Avenue North and Roy Street are both heavily traveled arterials.

Traffic signals and crosswalks allow pedestrian access to the site. There is no on-site parking.

HISTORY

Seattle Parks and Recreation acquired the site, in 2004. The name honors the counterbalance trolley system that once took people up and down Queen Anne Avenue, a unique element of Seattle's history, and identifies the site as a community gathering place, a place for art, activity, and enjoyment.
