HISTORY

The original playground of 1.68acres was given to the city in 1906, the first land given specifically for a playground. It was the gift of Mrs. Mary M. Miller in commemoration of her boy, Pendleton. Nearby Meany Junior High was named in honor of Washington’s most beloved and prominent historian. The original school on this site was named “Longfellow”.
