HOURS4 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. ABOUT THE PARKLake Union Park is a unique urban gem, close to the center of downtown Seattle. The park provides access to green space and the water and celebrates the cultural, maritime, and industrial heritage of the city and region. The site’s role as a park became possible on July 1, 2000, when the US Navy conveyed the deed to its five acres of land to Seattle Parks and Recreation. The transfer consolidated the South Lake Union site into a 12-acre park. In partnership with the Seattle Parks Foundation, Seattle Parks and Recreation opened the new park on September 25, 2010. Acreage: 12HISTORYBOATING AND MARITIME HERITAGELake Union Park offers people of all ages and abilities a wide variety of ways to get out on the water and to immerse themselves in Seattle's rich maritime culture. At the park’s Historic Ships Wharf and at the Center for Wooden Boats, visitors can experience and learn about the history of the Pacific Northwest's maritime world through boat-building and boat-rentals, historic vessels, family programs, sailing classes, festivals and more. Programs are offered through the Center for Wooden Boats, Northwest Seaport, the Virginia V Foundation, and the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI).
