Current Status


September 2012
This project is funded in part by a State Department of the Military Hazard Mitigation grant using FEMA funds, and Major Maintenance funds.

Parks awarded the construction contract to Express Construction..

During construction the 2nd floor of the building will not be accessible. For the electrical upgrade portioin of the project, the center will close from Thursday, September 20, 2012 until Monday September 24, 2012, with doors opening at 7 a.m. on Monday to accommodate day care and program classes.

This electrical upgrade adds a new emergency generator and automatic transfer switch to keep the building powered in the event of a power outage at the facility.

Parking around the center will be limited and half of the basketball court will be dedicated to construction needs. Other disruptions will include limited access throughout the building during construction and lasting through the year, with impacted areas identified and alternate space in other portions of the building used to compensate.

Project Description

Budget: $1,647,000
Electrical and Seismic Upgrades funded by FEMA grant and Major Maintenance Building Component Renovations.
Construction begins: The project will begin construction in late August 2012.
Project complete:All work is scheduled for completion in March 2013.

This project provides seismic upgrades to community center facility, including roof component seismic strapping, shear walls within structure, replace existing roof, gutters, and parapet, repair/replace clear story siding, replace metal sheeting on roof curbs. It will also remove existing HVAC roof unit and replace with new heat pump system.

A new emergency generator and an automatic transfer switch for electrical system will be installed. A variety of architectural improvements to include reconfiguring the sky lights, replacement of old ceiling panels, fresh paint and other minor upgrades.
