Current Status

Thank you Seattle! This project is complete.
The community celebrated the opening of the play area on Sept. 5, 2008 with music, clowns, and a neighborhood picnic. Christopher Williams and Councilmember Rasmussen were present along with over 400 neighborhood residents.

Project Description

Budget: $500,000
Parks has contributed $300,000 for the renovation of the play area. The community has contributed $150,000 and was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Department of Neighborhoods.
Construction begins: 2nd Quarter 2008
Project complete: 3rd Quarter 2008

This project renovates the play area located at Ravenna-Eckstein Park. The existing play area equipment will be removed and new equipment will be installed. The new play area will be located and constructed to facilitate ADA access. The play equipment design will encompass two seperate areas with large play structures, individual play elements, swings, and a climbing feature.

The community submitted and was approved for a $50,000 Department of Neighborhoods Matching Grant.
