Current StatusSeattle Parks and Recreation completed the renovations at both the north and south Leschi marina moorages. Specifically the project provided a new fixed breakwater of the north marina, new floating walkway, and new boat moorage wet slips were installed; and the southern breakwater of the south marina was replaced with new pilings and steel tube structures for wave attenuation. Additionally, the work included shoreline mitigation work at the south marina basin, north of the gangway, which included new irrigation, slope planting and emergent planting at the waterline. Construction has completed as of April 30 2011 following the additional wet slip moorage installation on the North Marina. The project complies with Fisheries mandated, permitted "work window", established when juvenile salmon are not migrating through the area. Project DescriptionBudget:
$2,000,000 Funding from Capitol Reserve Funds - Real-estate Excise Tax provided through Parks Docks/Piers/Floats/Seawalls/Shorelines program.
For the Leschi Marina, improvements include replacing the existing breakwater structures of the north and south marina basins, replacing the floating walkway structure of the north marina and installation of steel pilings within the north marina basin. Additionally, utility support will be added which includes fire suppression and conduit for future electrical needs.
