Major Maintenance Project Information
Ballfield Lighting Replacement Program

Address: Cal Anderson Park
1635 11th Ave, Seattle WA 98122 (Map It)

Current Status

February 2012
The lighting system for the tennis courts and basketball courts at Cal Anderson Park will be out while the wiring of the new electricle cabinet is in progress. Parks expects the power to be restored by March 9th.

This work completes the ballfield lighting project.

Power to the ballfield lights is not affected, and they will remain operational for the duration of the work.

2011
A public meeting was held on March 22, 2011 at the Cal Anderson Shelterhouse. See meeting notes below.

The ballfield will be closed during construction due to the use of a large crane and open trenching. Due to the unknown dates of certain work taking place, we are not able to schedule the field for games or events. Parks will work closely with the contractor to make sure that the ballfield can be made available whenever it is safe to do so during construction.

SCHEDULE
Design: Spring 2011
Construction: June 20 - August 26, 2011(subject to change based on contracting and weather)
Completion: September 2011, Field to be available for September Programming.

Project Description

Budget: This program is funded through the Cumulative Reserve Fund over the next several years at a total estimated cost of $11 million. Future funding for this program depends on available resources.

This project is part of an ongoing design program to replace outmoded lighting systems at various fields throughout the park system. The new lighting systems will reduce light spill into neighboring communities and night skies. The new systems will also be more energy efficient and provide safe, uniform lighting levels for the users. At this field, the existing poles and fixtures will be demolished. New poles, fixtures and electrical control equipment will be installed.
