This will fund installation of new electrical systems at numerous ballfields
over a six year period. The new lighting systems will reduce light spillover
and will be more energy efficient.
Fields planned for possible replacements in the 2007-2008 biennium include
Garfield, Georgetown, Hiawatha, Interbay, Lower Woodland Field #2, and
Washington. The Hiawatha and Washington fields will be coordinated with
planned synthetic field conversions at those ballfields. Lighting systems
to be replaced in 2009 and beyond will be prioritized based on pole
stability, degree of field usage, and other factors. This program is
part of a six-year plan to renovate ballfield lighting and fields throughout
the parks system.
Future funding for this program depends on available resources. Operations
and maintenance funding will be requested in future budgets.
