Baseball, soccer or ultimate Frisbee anyone? Warren G. Magnuson Park offers four fields perfect for these league sports and others . . . if you don't mind playing in the middle of some of the most picturesque surroundings in the city, that is! Two sets of sports fields are found within the park-Sand Point Fields (referred to as the Sports Fields) and Magnuson Park Fields (also known as the Sports Meadow).

To get to the Sand Point Fields, enter the park at N.E. 74th Street from Sand Point Way N.E. Drive straight until you see whimsical, red wooden chairs atop two precariously leaning blue poles (one of the park's public art works titled "No Appointment Necessary"). The sports fields are directly east (toward Lake Washington) and southwest from the chairs/poles. Park anywhere as close to your field as you can in the large lots. Access to the Sports Meadow is easiest from N.E. 65thStreet at Sand Point Way N.E; drive east approximately 1/2 mile. At the first intersection turn left and continue to the first street on the left. This leads to the Sports Meadow parking lot.

While you're on the field, younger children will enjoy the nearby Junior League of Seattle Playground and undersized outdoor basketball courts. Portable toilets and waste containers are available near all the Sports Fields

To check youth and adult league play and practice schedules or to reserve a field for daytime use, call the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation at 206-684-4082 or 206-684-4077. Field reservations include use of facilities for soccer, ultimate Frisbee, softball and baseball.

Sports Meadow Restoration

In 2004-05, the sports meadow was reconstructed. This project included raising the height of the meadow almost eight feet to allow better drainage. After allowing time for the turf to grow and get established, the meadow opened for use in fall 2006.

The west side of the sports meadow includes public art to commemorate a survey calibration line and the edge of the main runway of former Naval Air Station Seattle.
