About

Green Lake Community Center is situated on the east side of Seattle's enormously popular Green Lake Park. The park is surrounded by a vibrant residential and business district, with a library, restaurants, coffee shops and shopping. The biggest attraction to the area is the lake itself, drawing thousands of people a day to jog, walk or wheel around the 2.8-mile path that encircles the body of water. Other popular activities include renting kayaks and other kinds of water craft, and playing in one of the many sports leagues that use the park.

Built in 1928, the community center features a gym (and stage), an upstairs tot room, and numerous other rooms of varying size on two floors. In 1955, the City of Seattle added Evans Swimming Pool to the structure. The gym and outdoor basketball courts have seen many of the Seattle's greatest players throughout the years. The center is surrounded on one side by a guarded swimming beach (summer only), basketball courts, athletic fields, a large play area, and tennis courts.

Ping pong and basketball are among the most popular programs here, but the center also offers fitness classes, dodge ball, preschool, summer camps, tai chi, pottery and much more.
