Thornton Creek, Long Walk-South Fork

Saturday,September 27th from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Take an urban hike through Seattle’s largest watershed. Even in urban settings, nature persists beneath our feet and in front of our eyes. Explore the ecology, history, and current issues of Seattle's largest watershed by walking the entire length of this diverse creek. The South Fork Long Walk begins at Northgate Mall and ends at Matthews Beach Park on Lake Washington, a five mile hike. Don't have an entire day? Join us for a new South Fork walk that will start and end at Northgate. You'll see the Northgate Water Quality Channel, beaver dam, native & invasive plant species and restoration efforts. Learn how what you do in your own backyard affects your watershed. Family Fun for Five Green Screens

Fridays, from 6:30 to 8:30pm
Family movie time is back! Have an evening of fun for the whole family. Each movie is a family friendly environmental film that includes a themed craft project and popcorn.
Sep 19th- Bee Movie: Barry B. Benson is a bee who is disillusioned with his lone career choice: making honey. Barry discovers humans have been stealing and eating the honey and decides to file a lawsuit against humans. Craft: Litter bug.
Oct 24th- Hoot: A young man moves from Montana to Florida with his family, where he's compelled to engage in a fight to protect a population of endangered owls. Craft: owl mask.
 Nov 7th- The Rescuers: Down Under: The RAS agents, Miss Bianca and Bernard, race to Australia to save a boy and a rare golden eagle from a murderous poacher. Craft: Rain stick.
Activity Fee: $5 per family

Halloween Costume Exchange

Need a costume to scare up some fun for Halloween? Tired of having to buy a brand new costume every single year only to wear it once? Swap that old ghost costume for that New-to-You Indiana Jones ensemble. Your used Halloween costumes can get a second haunting in Northgate Community Center’s costume exchange.
