HOW TO GET STARTED

Must be at least *15 years old prior to the first class, able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating crawl and breast stroke, able to retrieve a 10 pound object from a minimum depth of 7 feet within the specified time limit.

PAY INFORMATION

Lifeguard Pay First Step: $15.17

All temporary employees are paid a percentage of their salary as premium pay in addition to their regular hourly rate. Premium pay is in lieu of base level of vacation and all other fringe benefits.
** $15.17 + 5% premium pay is $15.93 (2013 pay rates)

* Must be 16 years old to work for Seattle Parks and Recreation

Northwest Lifeguard Test

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

This class will prepare youth and adults 15 years and older to become lifeguards. The course will include CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training. This certification is required for those who wish to work as a lifeguard.

Northwest Lifeguard Test Prep Course
