Lifeguard Training Instructor CertificationSeattle Parks and Recreation teaches American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor (LGI). This, approximately 30 hour, course includes practical methods and theory for teaching Life Guarding and Water Safety. While not required for temporary employment as a lifeguard, all of our lifeguards hold Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification. LGI's are preferred job candidates because of the level of teaching training they have received. This certification also helps temporary staff if they choose to apply for permanent positions. Lifeguard Training Instructors are Authorized to Teach:
