Summer Employment Opportunities

Join us for an exciting summer serving community as a Seattle Parks and Recreation temporary employee! We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic individuals for a variety of positions this summer to provide welcoming and safe opportunities to play, learn, contemplate, and build community and promote responsible stewardship of the land. 
 
Employment opportunities are open to individuals ages 16 and up. Some positions require a WA State driver’s license, or other certifications. Please review individual job postings for more details.  

Ball Field Recreation Attendant - $18.69-$23.65 hourly
Have fun in the sun this summer and support access to baseball and softball for your community! Prepare fields before games, record and report scores, and collaborate with teams to provide a friendly and safe playing environment.  

Community Center Recreation Attendant - $18.69-$23.65 hourly 
Join our team to promote equitable access to recreation programs. In this role, you’ll support community members in registering for programs and applying for scholarships. You’ll also help plan and implement recreation activities and community events.  

Community Center Recreation Leader - $20.75-$33.33 hourly 
Develop and implement community recreation programs serving all ages and neighbors. A Community Center Recreation Leader will assist with recreational activities related to youth and teens both formal and informal held at Community Centers as part of general Summer programming activities Our Summer of Safety program for young people creates an opportunity for tweens and teens to engage in sports, arts, and field trips throughout the summer. This is a great opportunity to develop skills and experience to prepare you for permanent employment with our team! 

Summer Learning Academy Recreation Leader - $20.75-$33.33 hourly 
Join our team supporting Seattle Public School elementary and middle school students in this school-based program. This position offers meaningful opportunities to support and inspire young people as they explore their college and career passions through project-based learning and enrichment activities. 

Boat Ramp Ranger Attendant - $20.75-$33.33 hourly 
Hang out with us by the water and help oversee boat ramp operations this summer! This position monitors collection of fees and directs ramp traffic during peak use hours. Weekends and holidays are included in the regular schedule.  

Lifeguard (Temporary, Intermittent) - $19.51-$23.62 hourly 
Seattle Parks and Recreation pools and beaches are a vital part of the culture in a city surrounded by water. Join our team to help monitor swimmer safety, rescue persons in distress, and lead instructional programs to help community develop swimming skills.  
 
Outdoor Activation and Mobile Recreation Leader - $20.75-$33.33 hourly 
Support the fitness, nutrition, and youth career exploration needs of community in this role. In this position, you will be an important member of a team committed to strengthening the health of community by planning and leading daily outdoor recreational activities. Help to maintain program materials and equipment, supervise participants, engage community, and develop program and event recommendations.   
 
Park Visitor Center Recreation Attendant - $18.69-$23.65 
Spend your summer among the trees providing customer service to park patrons at Discovery Park and Carkeek Park! We are seeking customer service-loving individuals to engage community members with positivity and enthusiasm for the natural environment. You will be responsible to open and close facilities, answer questions in-person and on the phone, monitor building use, and support program registration and payment processes.  
 
Summer Camp Recreation Attendant for Individuals with Disabilities - $18.69-$23.65 hourly 
Join a team of compassionate recreation professionals who are dedicated to providing safe, adaptive, and engaging opportunities for individuals with disabilities to recreate and enjoy the beauty of Seattle’s natural spaces! Staff in this role will support day and overnight camps serving campers ages 4-21 years old with developmental and/or physical disabilities.

Summer Food and Fitness Recreation Attendant - $18.69-$23.65 hourly 
We are hiring for multiple positions to deliver responsible, exceptional recreation services through summer playground, summer sack lunch, and food and fitness programs. Responsibilities include park site setup and cleanup, proper food storage and record keeping, and other recreation program duties as assigned.  
 
Wading Pool Recreation Attendant - $18.69-$23.65 hourly 
A great entry-level summer job, wading pool attendants oversee operations at wading pools citywide on days when the temperature reaches 70 degrees or higher. Come have fun in the sun with us and help create safe and environmentally friendly places for children and families to play this summer! (Note: must be 18 years of age for this position.)
