Discovery Park Play Area Renovation

Updated: December 21, 2016

Winter 2016/17

Due to a shortage in project management staff resources and a strong desire to create the best possible play area for Discovery Park, the project has been delayed.  With a very limited budget for the project, we are taking our time to maximize the quality of the play area design and ensure the budget we have is spent carefully.  Seattle Parks and Recreation recognizes the importance of this play area and wants to provide a play experience that is consistent with the community input we received and commensurate with this signature park.  Design work for the project is nearing completion and we are currently working to finalize play equipment selection and project bid documents.  We anticipate construction to occur in summer/fall 2017.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the public meeting at the Discovery Park Environmental Learning Center in April 2016. Information from the meeting is located below.
