Job Readiness Program

The Student-Teen Employment Preparation (STEP) program is a job readiness
program designed to provide youth with education, job skills and career
development training. Work focuses on addressing community needs; team
projects may include forest enhancement, trail construction, habitat restoration,
organizing community building events and mixed media projects. The program
combines on the job work experience, environmental education, safety education
and career development training. Participants will develop good work habits,
strong team building and communication skills, as well as learning a sound
cultural awareness of the environment and their communities.

PROGRAM DATES:
July 6th - August 14th
PROGRAM HOURS:
Mon Thu 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Tue Fri, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
(Program hours listed above are tentative. Some projects may require a
10:30 am to 5 pm schedule depending on the project needs.)
WORK LOCATION:
Various parks, facilities, and programs throughout Seattle
STIPEND:
$599.00
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Open to teens 14 - 19 years of age
- Must be able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in
the United States.

Funding for the program was provided by Seattle-area Advisory Councils
and various grants. Despite the program's current success, we could not
hire all the teens that applied due to a lack of funding.
