Sylvan Way
Alternate sites purchased in the Longfellow Creek watershed.
March 2007
This Levy acquisition project targeted a portion of a large undeveloped site on Sylvan Way in the Delridge neighborhood, adjacent to the Longfellow Creek greenspace.

After lengthy negotiations with the property owners, Parks was unable to reach agreement to purchase and preserve a portion of the property. The site is now being developed with housing.

Parks had successfully applied for King County Conservation Futures Tax (CFT) matching funds toward this project. When the Sylvan Way site became unattainable, the County approved acquisition of alternative properties in the adjacent Longfellow Creek greenspace. In 2005, the CFT funds were applied toward the acquisition of two properties totaling 1.04 acre in the Longfellow Creek watershed. The properties are outlined in red on the map below.
Sylvan Way in the Delridge Neighborhood

The Pro Parks Levy targeted the purchase of a portion of a property along Sylvan Way in the Delridge neighborhood as a Neighborhood Parks Acquisition project.

Parks acquisition staff worked closely with the Sunrise Heights Neighborhood Association regarding the Sylvan Way acquisition project. Staff also met with the Delridge Neighborhoods District Council, the Pro Parks Levy Oversight Committee, and the King County Conservation Futures Tax Citizens Committee regarding the project.
