In April 2004, Seattle Parks and Recreation purchased the .28 acre vacant property at the northeast intersection of Queen Anne Ave N and Roy Street. Pro Parks Levy funds provided the match to obtain a King County Conservation Tax grant toward the purchase of the property.
PROJECT DESCRIPTIONThe Pro Parks Levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2000 designated funds to acquire property for a new park in the Uptown “urban center.”Seattle Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the Uptown Alliance and other community groups, identified several potential sites for a new park in the Uptown neighborhood. An extensive planning process was conducted to select a priority site for the new park. The process included community meetings, a walking tour and an open house. The property at Queen Anne Ave N and Roy Street was the community's priority property for acquisition, and in April 2004, the property was acquired by Seattle Parks and Recreation.
