Thank you Seattle! This project is complete.

Construction on The Mainline Irrigation Project began in November of 2006 and will be completed by the end of February 2007. This is an infrastructure upgrade that seeks to establish the backbone for all future irrigation in the Washington Park Arboretum. This project will update the existing irrigation system, which dates back to the 1930s and can no longer be repaired or augmented to serve the future needs of the Arboretum.
Projects will be throughout the park.
The Pro Parks Levy provides $2,268,200 project costs of planning, design and construction for 3 Arboretum projects.
Planning: 2004 - 2006
Design: 2006
Construction: TBA
Completion: 2007

The University of Washington, the City and the Arboretum Foundation are working together on three projects to implement the Arboretum master plan. The three projects include the Japanese Garden Entry Structure, the South Entry/Madrona Terrace Improvements and the Irrigation Mainline Project.

The Master Plan for Renewing the Washington Park Arboretum was adopted by the City and UW Regents in May 2001. The three identified projects are being funded by the Pro Parks Levy.

The Parks Department, in conjunction with the University of Washington Botanic Gardens, held one open house on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 to inform the community about plans for this project.
