Landscape Restoration Program
Because
landscape plantings do have a life span, and because the park system
is over 115 years old, the Department has an ongoing program for landscape
renovation. The goal of this program is ongoing landscape sustainability.
Through this program the quality andbeauty of park landscape assets
arerestored. This program also allows the Department to reevaluate landscape
areas to determine if redesign is needed in addition to restoration.
It's also an opportunity to upgrade irrigation and drainage systems.
The Landscape Restoration program focuses
on the following areas of landscape improvement:
- Invasive removal
- Ornamental tree and Large shrub structural pruning
- View pruning
- Tree suitability assessment and replacement
- Low maintenance plant selection and landscape installation
- Native or ornamental planting for the renovation design
- Weeds control
- Site grading and drainage solution
- Irrigation upgrade and adjustment
- Erosion control
- Path construction
- Stairway and wall construction
