You may be aware that in the first few months after the creation of our office we piloted a "Community Tea Time," where we invited in constituents and members of the community to come into the office and get to know the Director. This was on a weekly basis, and the agenda was generally the product of those who attended. The results were very successful - at times we had up to 20 people visiting City Hall from all over Seattle. This year we have decided to formalize the structure of our Friday Community Tea Time as a series of informational meetings between the community, ourselves and city departments.
"Tea Times" will now take place twice a month, on Fridays at 2 PM. Once a month we will host community members in our City Hall offices to meet with city departments and once a month we will head out to your communities to introduce ourselves as an office. We appreciate your patience as we finalize the dates for each of these meetings. Our goal with this new series is to introduce residents who are not familiar with city services and programs to the city.
By taking our office on the road for Tea Times, once a month we will be in your neighborhoods to meet with members of the community and address concerns or questions that you might have for us. We hope to reach the University District, Columbia City, Beacon Hill, Rainer Beach, Chinatown ID, Northgate, South Park, Greenwood and Lake City by year's end.
