Step Ahead Preschool Programs

Step Ahead provides full- and half-day high-quality preschool programs for low-income 3- and 4-year olds. The preschools are run by community-based organizations and schools, and are located in or near elementary schools. The Step Ahead preschools use a research-based curriculum that is aligned with Washington State early learning guidelines and Common Core standards.

Part-day programs provide a 3½ hour instructional day for children, 4 to 5 days a week from September to June. Full-day programs provide 6 or more hours a day for children, 5 days a week from September to June. Teachers provide daily opportunities for children to improve skills in language and literacy, math concepts, science, social studies, arts, physical development, and social and emotional development.
