Updated: Work with Cranes Requires Lane Closures Downtown--Elliott and Eighth

SEATTLE-Work on private buildings requiring the use of a crane will require lane closures on two streets.

The 600 block of Elliott Avenue West will be restricted to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes on Saturday, August 1, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eighth Avenue between Stewart Street and Virginia Street will be closed beginning 5 a.m. Sunday, August 2, for dismantling a tower crane. One lane will be opened Monday, and the street will be fully opened when the work is completed, expected to take up to one week. Sidewalks on the west side of Eighth will remain open.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
