Queen Anne Hill, West Raye Street Emergency Tree Removal

SEATTLE -SDOT’s Urban Forestry crews are removing a tree this morning on the northern leg of West Raye Street, located on the east side of Queen Anne Hill near SR 99 (Aurora Avenue North). The crews expect to keep this northern section of West Raye Street, between Fourth Avenue North and Sixth Avenue North, closed to traffic until noon today.

The closed portion of West Raye leads under Aurora Avenue North and provides access to Queen Anne as well as a SR99 u-turn route south of the Aurora Bridge.

Traffic headed northbound on SR 99 wishing to take the Queen Anne exit at Halladay will be detoured to Bridge Way North (in Fremont), and then to Southbound SR99 to West Raye Street.

Traffic from Queen Anne, or southbound on SR 99, will take southbound SR 99 to Dexter Way North and then head northbound on Dexter Ave North, turning left at 6th Ave North to northbound SR 99.

The tree is being removed because it is otherwise likely to fall with the potential of causing damage or injury.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
