SDOT unveils improved web site
Interactive tools and a new media corner creates even more transparency

SEATTLE -In support of open government, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) unveiled an improved web site today. Upgrades include social networking tools the public has come to rely on for information, such as Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, podcasts and a blog. These tools make it possible for people to interact with the department at a whole new level.

A new Media Corner has been added to make sure the public has context for SDOT related stories. The public can read media requests, view the information supplied and in some instances, read actual transcripts of media interviews with SDOT employees. The Corner highlights how SDOT works with the press.

Those interested in seeing the changes and learning what is hot in the world of transportation should visit: www.seattle.gov/transportation .

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
