Construction of Pedestrian Improvement on First Hill Begins Monday

SEATTLE-Next week (June 22) Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) paving crews plan to begin work on pedestrian improvements at the intersection of Harvard Street, East Union Street, and Seneca Street, now that work on underground utilities has been completed. The work will include realignment of the intersection, partial permanent closure of East Union Street, installation of six curb ramps, additional marking for crosswalks and bike lane, and pedestrian lighting.

This work is part of SDOT’s Neighborhood Street Fund program.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
