Reminder: Cherry Street On-ramp Closed May 26 to June 22

SEATTLE-Drivers coming from downtown Seattle will not be able to use the Cherry Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 starting Tuesday, May 26. The ramp will remain closed around the clock until June 22.

The off-ramp from northbound I-5 to Olive Street closed on May 18 and will remain closed for one year.

These closures are for the University Link light rail project that will extend the light rail from downtown to the University of Washington campus. Sound Transit is preparing the soil prior to drilling a tunnel under I-5.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
