Celebrate the Launch of Seattle's Draft Pedestrian Master Plan

On Thursday, Mayor Greg Nickels announced the release of Seattle's Draft Pedestrian Master Plan, which is available at: http://www.seattle.gov/mostwalkablecity.htm. To celebrate the plan's release, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) invites you to participate in two special events next week with Mark Fenton, former host of the PBS show “America’s Walking” and a dynamic speaker on the importance of walking for transportation, health, and the environment.

SDOT is partnering with the Department of Parks and Recreation to host a lunchtime event on May 11, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the Microsoft Auditorium at the Central Library, with optional 30-minute walks both before (11:30 a.m.) and after (1:00 p.m.) the presentation.

On May 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Union Station, SDOT will partner with Sound Transit to host a second event with Mr. Fenton to celebrate the launch of the plan.

These events are free and open to the public. For additional information, please see the attached files or contact Jennifer Wieland at jennifer.wieland@seattle.gov (206-733-9970).

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
