Weekend Serves Up a Variety of Events, Plan On Possible Traffic Delays

(SEATTLE) - The weekend ahead offers a range of outdoor activities from street parties and an anti-violence walk to Seattle Sounders soccer and a memorial cycling race. Motorists can expect traffic congestion associated with these events. The Seattle Department of Transportation encourages event-goers to try a different way of commuting - walking, bicycling or taking the bus; they’ll save money while they reduce their carbon footprint.

Friday, April 10
Seattle Summer Streets: 6 - 9 p.m.
1,000 - 2,000 participants expected
Greenwood Avenue N will be closed north and southbound from N 65th to N 87th streets; the cross streets will be open for traffic at N 65th, N 80th, N 85th and N 87th.

Saturday, April 11
March Against Violence - 12 noon
600 participants expected
March starts at Rainier Beach High School, Rainier Avenue S and S Henderson Street and heads north on Rainier to S Graham Street, west on Graham to the Aki Kurose Middle School at 42nd Avenue S.

Seattle Sounders versus Kansas City Wizards - 7:30 p.m.
34,000 + spectators
Match is at Qwest Field. Occidental Avenue S will be closed north and south bound from S King Street to S Royal Brougham Way.
