Construction on E Marginal Way S (SR99), Southbound Lanes

SEATTLE-A contractor working for the Union Pacific Railroad is making an emergency repair to tracks and the surrounding pavement on East Marginal Way South (Highway 99) at Diagonal Avenue South. The contractor expects to maintain one lane open to southbound traffic until 3:30 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow. Northbound lanes are not affected.

Drivers traveling in the southbound lanes on East Marginal Way South are advised to slow down after they pass the West Seattle Bridge off-ramp and descend from the raised roadway to the surface street, and should expect congestion as they approach the construction area.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels' goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
