Update: Fremont Bridge Repair--
Bridge will be closed early Sunday morning, March 15

SEATTLE -Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) crews will close the Fremont Bridge to all traffic, vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians, on Sunday, March 15, from 2:30 a.m. to 6 a.m., in time for the St. Patrick’s Day Dash. During the repair work SDOT will provide a shuttle service for pedestrians and bicyclists.

SDOT announced earlier this week that the crews would close the bridge from 11 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday. In response to requests from the community, the crews shortened the schedule and will keep the bridge open Saturday night.

Bridge crews will repair a damaged center lock, the device that keeps the two leaves of the bridge firmly fastened down when it is not opening for marine traffic.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
