City of Seattle Crews Trim Trees on 17th Ave NE

SEATTLE-SDOT Urban Forestry crews are working in conjunction with Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation crews to care for street trees on 17th Avenue NE (a boulevard with a center median) between NE 45th Street and NE 55th Street. Starting Wednesday, February 4, and continuing on weekdays for the next eight weeks, SDOT will intermittently close one northbound or southbound lane at a time to allow for tree trimming. On-street parking will be restricted as needed. A sidewalk on at least one side of the street will remain open.

With this work the crews will ensure there is sufficient clearance around the trees for traffic and pedestrians. They will remove any dead wood, allow more light to penetrate to the interior of the tree canopy, and will identify any ailing trees. For more information, the public may call SDOT Urban Forestry at (206) 684-TREE.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
