Workshops offered for technology grants
"Digital inclusion" grants available to close the digital divide
SEATTLE — Grant funds are now available for Seattle organizations working to close the digital divide. The City of Seattle is offering grants to support the growth of a technology-healthy city through the Bill Wright Technology Matching Fund. Grants of up to $20,000 are available from a total fund of $250,000. The application deadline is March 9, 2009.
The fund supports projects that reach technology underserved communities to address one or more of the following goals: 1) to increase technology literacy and access; 2) to provide residents with access to computers the Internet and other information technology; and 3) to increase residents’ use of technology for community problem solving, civic engagement and community building.
The public is invited to attend grant information workshops on Wednesday, February 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Jefferson Community Center, located at 3801 Beacon Ave S and on Saturday, February 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Miller Community Center located at 330 19th Ave E.
