Street Closure Saturday for Test Drill

SEATTLE – On Saturday, January 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, Sound Transit and emergency response agencies will conduct a joint safety test drill in preparation for the opening of Link light rail service to Seattle. The drill will take place at Martin Luther King, Jr. Way and S Cloverdale Street.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Way will be closed to through traffic from S Kenyon Street to S Henderson Street except for Metro transit service. Northbound, southbound and westbound traffic will be detoured onto Renton Avenue S and eastbound traffic will be directed onto Beacon Avenue S during the mandated safety certification drill. Motorists will be guided through the detours by police officers and signage. Metro transit service will not be impacted as buses will be allowed through the drill zone on Martin Luther King, Jr. Way between S Kenyon and S Henderson streets.
