Update: SDOT and SCL working on West Seattle Bridge today

SEATTLE-SDOT and Seattle City Light (SCL) are working today on the West Seattle Bridge. This morning SDOT crews are replacing missing lane striping in the eastbound direction. Also an SDOT crew is blocking off the curb lane while an SCL crew is replacing overhead lighting in the westbound direction. At 12:30 p.m. the crews will switch directions and the SDOT striping crews will be working in the westbound direction while the SCL crew will work in the curb lanes eastbound. The work will wrap up at 3 p.m. in time for the after noon commute.

Dry pavement is required for the striping work. The SDOT crews are replacing only lane lines that were severely distressed following the recent spell of snow, and are giving priority to streets and bridges with the highest volume of traffic.

Drivers are asked to please leave plenty of space between them and the work vehicles, and to obey the signs--don’t drive over wet paint.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
