Construction to Close Several Streets in Seattle this Weekend

(SEATTLE)--SDOT and private contractors will perform work on several streets this weekend, October 18 and 19, when traffic volumes are lighter than on weekdays.

Lake Washington Boulevard SDOT crews will close Lake Washington Boulevard between East Alder and East Jefferson streets on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. until no later than 7 p.m. for street paving. The street will remain open to pedestrians.

Denny Way at Dexter Avenue North On Saturday morning SDOT crews will backfill an excavation on Denny Way following work on underground water lines. SDOT will restrict traffic on Denny Way to one lane in each direction just west of Dexter Avenue from 7 until 11 a.m. Southbound traffic on Dexter will not be able to turn right onto Denny Way. Crews plan to return next weekend to repair the concrete base of the street.

Sixth Avenue North and John Street SDOT crews will replace concrete pavement panels Saturday on Sixth Avenue North following work on water utilities. The southbound lanes on Sixth Avenue will be closed on the south side of John Street from 8 a.m. and will reopen no later than noon on Sunday, allowing time for the concrete to cure. Traffic will be detoured at John Street to Aurora Avenue North.

First Avenue and Main Street The intersection of First Avenue and Main Street will be closed on Sunday while SDOT crews grind off the old asphalt surface and repave the intersection with asphalt. The intersection will be closed from from 7 a.m. until no later than 7 p.m. to provide time for the material to cool. Traffic will be detoured with the assistance of traffic flaggers and police officers.

Stewart Street and Ninth Avenue On Sunday morning Stewart Street will be closed, and on Sunday afternoon Ninth Avenue will be closed to allow a crane to install equipment on a private building. Stewart Street will be closed from 5 a.m. until noon between Ninth Avenue and Terry Street, and traffic will be detoured to Lenora. From noon until no later than 6 p.m., Ninth Avenue between Stewart and Virginia streets will be closed. The sidewalk on one side of the street will be closed in the work area.
