Another Weekend of Fun-Filled Community Festivals
Motorists should plan for possible traffic delays

SEATTLE - Over the coming weekend, September 19-21, thousands of people are expected to attend the Saint Demetrios Greek Festival, the Fremont Oktoberfest, the West Seattle Car Show and a Seattle Seahawks game. The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises motorists to plan on heavy traffic around these and other weekend activities. The department encourages motorists try something positive for the environment and their budgets by heading to the weekend events via bus, cycling or, if appropriate, walking.

Friday, September 19
Saint Demetrios Greek Festival: Noon - 9 p.m.
3,000 participants
To be held at 2100 Boyer Ave E. Expect congestion in the vicinity of the festival.

Fremont Oktoberfest: 5 p.m. - Midnight
12,000 expected
Streets closed from 6:00 p.m. on Thursday to 11 p.m. on Sunday: N 35th St (Phinney Ave N - 1st Ave NW) and N Canal St (Phinney Ave N - 1st Ave NW).

Saturday, September 20
Saint Demetrios Greek Festival: 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
3,000 participants
To be held at 2100 Boyer Ave E. Expect congestion in the vicinity of the festival.

Fremont Oktoberfest: 11 a.m. - Midnight
12,000 expected
Streets closed through 11 p.m. on Sunday: N 35th St (Phinney Ave N - 1st Ave NW) and N Canal St (Phinney Ave N - 1st Ave NW).

Sunday, September 21
West Seattle Car Show: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
3,400 expected
To be held at the West Seattle Junction. Streets closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.: California Ave. SW (SW Genesee - SW Edmunds St). The cross streets of SW Oregon St and SW Alaska St will remain open.

Mount Baker Community Club “Day in the Park” & Parade: 10 a.m.
400 Expected
To be held on Mount Baker Blvd and in Mount Baker Park. Brief closure to occur on Mount Baker Blvd (31st Ave S - S McClellan).

Summer Sundays on Pike Place: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
1,000 expected
Streets surrounding Pike Place Market may have heavy traffic.

Fremont Oktoberfest Brew Ha-Ha Run & Street Scramble: 10 a.m.
1,000 participants
Race route: Starts at N 34th St and Fremont Ave N, heads east on N 34th to NE Pacific St, then east on Pacific to 4th Ave NW, makes a u-turn onto the Burke-Gilman Trail, and then follows the trail back to N 34th St and Phinney Ave N.

Fremont Oktoberfest: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
12,000 expected
Streets closed through 11 p.m. on Sunday: N 35th St (Phinney Ave N - 1st Ave NW) and N Canal St (Phinney Ave N - 1st Ave NW).

Saint Demetrios Greek Festival: Noon - 7 p.m.
3,000 participants
To be held at 2100 Boyer Ave E. Expect congestion in the vicinity of the festival.

Seattle Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams Football Game: 1:05 p.m. - 4 p.m.
67,000 expected
To be held at Qwest Field. Expect congestion surrounding the stadium, and on I-5 and the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
