Update: 14th Avenue South Street Improvements

SEATTLE- SDOT is improving 14th Avenue South, the main street in the South Park neighborhood, from South Director Street to South Cloverdale Street.

For the next three weeks, the contractor will be working in the center lane of 14th Avenue South, removing old pavement and temporarily replacing it with gravel. The contractor will work on drainage connections and other preliminary work before applying the first layer of new asphalt to the center lane. During this time there will be no on-street parking, and there will be some limitations on left turns.

When work in the center lane is completed, now estimated for mid September, the contractor will shift to the southbound lanes (western side of the street). One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction, with possible occasional detours for southbound traffic. Left hand turns will be restricted at some locations.

This work is funded by the Bridging the Gap transportation initiative approved by Seattle voters.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
