Coming Weekend Packs in Parades, Festivals and Races
Motorists should plan for possible traffic delays

SEATTLE - This coming weekend, Friday through Sunday, July 25-27, there will be an assortment of activities to choose from including the ever-popular Seafair Torchlight Parade, food and music festivals, and 5-8K races. Motorists should count on heavy traffic near event sites and plan to park at a distance and walk. The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) encourages event-goers to consider leaving the car at home and try other modes of travel such as walking, cycling or taking the bus.

Friday, July 25
Festival of the Fountains: 6 p.m. - 1 a.m.
750 attending
Event will be held at the Pacific Science Center, Seattle Center. Streets closed: 2nd Ave N (Denny Way - Thomas St) and Thomas St (Warren Ave N - 2nd Ave N) from 4 p.m. Friday - 2 a.m. Saturday. Motorists should expect heavy traffic around the Seattle Center.

Capitol Hill Block Party: 3 p.m. - Midnight
5,700 attending
Streets closed: E Pike St (Broadway - 12th Ave), and 10th Ave and 11th Ave (E Union St - E Pine St) from 1 a.m. Friday - 9 a.m. Sunday.

Saturday, July 26
Ballard Seafood Fest: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
25,000 plus attending
The event will be held in the Ballard Central Business District at 2208 Market St. Streets closed: NW Market St (20th Ave NW - 24th Ave NW), 22nd Ave NW (Ballard Ave NW - NW 58th St), Ballard Ave NW (NW Vernon Pl - NW Market St) and Leary Ave SW (NW Vernon Pl - NW Market St) from 12:01 a.m. Saturday - 11 p.m. Sunday.

Black Dollar Days Task Force Jazz Festival: Noon - 8 p.m.
1,300 attending
Event will be held at Powell Barnett Park at 352 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way. Expect some congestion in the vicinity of the park.

Capitol Hill Block Party: 1 p.m. - Midnight
5,700 attending
Streets closed: E Pike St (Broadway - 12th Ave), and 10th Ave and 11th Ave (E Union St - E Pine St) from 1 a.m. Friday - 9 a.m. Sunday.

Seafair Torchlight Run: 8 K Run - 6:30 p.m., 5K Run and Walk - 6:45 p.m.
2,500 participants
Streets closed: Northbound Alaskan Way Viaduct (southbound remains open) and streets along the run routes from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.

8K Run route: Starts at Occidental Ave S adjacent to Qwest Field, heads south on Occidental to S Royal Brougham Way, west on Royal Brougham to 1st Ave S, north on 1st onto the Alaskan Way Viaduct, north on the viaduct through the Battery St Tunnel to Aurora Ave N, north on Aurora to Republican St, east on Republican to Dexter Ave N, south on Dexter to Denny Way, west on Denny to Wall St, west on Wall to 4th Ave, south on 4th to S Washington St, west on Washington to 2nd Ave S, south on 2nd to the North Lot of Qwest Field.

5K Run and Walk route: Starts at Occidental Ave S adjacent to Qwest Field, heads south on Occidental to S Royal Brougham Way, west on Royal Brougham to 1st Ave S, north on 1st onto the Alaskan Way Viaduct, north on the viaduct to the south end of the Battery St Tunnel, performs a u-turn and then returns on the same route to the North Lot of Qwest Field.

Southwest Airlines Torchlight Parade: 7:30 p.m. - 11 p.m.
303,000 participants and spectators
Streets closed: Staging area on streets and parking lots on the east side of the Seattle Center at 3:00 p.m. Route closed to traffic at 5:30 p.m. Parade begins at 4th Ave N and Broad St, heads south on 4th Ave to S Washington St, west on Washington to 2nd Ave S, south on 2nd into the North Lot of Qwest Field.

Sunday, July 27
Pista Sa Nayon: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
10,000 attending
Event will be held in Seward Park. There are various street closures and parking restrictions in the neighborhoods around the park. Expect congestion near the park and in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Ballard Seafood Fest: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
25,000 plus attending

3,500 participants
