Suspect in Traffic Circle Homicide Surrenders

SEATTLE – On July 16, 2008 at approximately 11:50 A.M., 28-year-old suspect Brian Keith Brown surrendered to Seattle Police Homicide Detectives at Mount Zion Baptist Church in the Central District of Seattle. Brown was wanted for a brutal assault that occurred on July 9, 2008 that resulted in the death of a 60-year-old South Seattle man.

Brown was driven to the church by family members, and spoke with his attorney and minister before being placed under arrest. Community activist Chris Bennett, Brown’s attorney Barbara Laners, and Minister Phyllis Beaumonte were on scene at the church to help facilitate Brown’s surrender.

The Seattle Police Department appreciates the community’s participation and assistance in this matter. Our goal in any arrest is a peaceful outcome.

Brown was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Homicide.
