Update: Paving on Elliott/15th Avenue West, May 12-16

SEATTLE- SDOT’s contractor finished paving the east side of Elliott Avenue West between Denny Way and West Lee Street this week, and will complete the remaining curb ramp, sidewalk, and miscellaneous electrical work next week, May 12 to May 16. Next week the contractor will also continue recently started work on the east side of Elliott Avenue West and 15th Avenue West, between West Lee Street and West Nickerson Street.

Next week beginning Monday, May 12, three southbound lanes and at least one northbound lane of Elliott and 15th Avenue West will remain open during the morning peak traffic period. During off-peak daytime hours, at least two lanes will remain open in each direction. During the afternoon peak period, three lanes will remain open in each direction.

The contractor does not plan to work during this weekend, and does not plan to work during the night next week.

The contractor plans to work at night the week of May 19 to grind off the old asphalt surface from this stretch of Elliott and 15th Avenue West.

In addition to SDOT’s contractor, two contractors for private developments are also working in the area.

SDOT’s paving project includes funding from the Bridging the Gap transportation initiative approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
