Golden Gardens Drive NW to remain closed this summer for repairs

SEATTLE- Golden Gardens Drive was closed in December 2007 due to a washout during a winter storm. A consultant working for SDOT is preparing engineering plans to rebuild the road. SDOT expects construction to begin mid summer, enabling SDOT to open the road by the end of the year.

Golden Gardens Drive provides access to the Golden Gardens Park from NW 85th Street. While the street is closed, drivers can reach the park by coming instead from the south on Seaview Avenue Northwest. Pedestrians coming from the top of the hill can reach the park by way of the woodland trail that starts at NW 85th Street. The dog park on Golden Gardens Drive NW remains open, and can be reached by foot or by car from within the park.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
