Update: South Alaska Street to be closed for two weeks

SEATTLE- South Alaska Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Way South and 31st Avenue South will be closed from April 24 to May 8, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The street will be closed to vehicles; however, the sidewalk on the south side of the street will remain open. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles. Buses may be rerouted during these closures. As the date approaches, see Metro Online at, or call Rider Information, (206) 553-3000.

The road closures will allow a contractor to work on underground utilities for the Boys and Girls Club, as part of the Rainier Vista Redevelopment.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
