Three Public Meetings On Possible Improvements
To Victor Steinbrueck Park
Seattle Parks and Recreation will hold three public meetings to invite public
comment and input on possible physical improvements to Victor Steinbrueck Park,
2001 Western Ave.
Meeting dates are Thursday, May 1, Thursday, May 22, and Thursday, June 12,
and each will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Desimone Bridge (in the
Pike Place Market north of Stewart St.).
Parks will work with the community and interested citizens to develop a program
of improvements that address objectives for the neighborhood and the city.
Steinbrueck Park is among the downtown parks studied by Mayor Nickels' Center
City Task Force, which recommended a strategy for enlivening these parks and
making them feel safe and welcoming. That strategy includes increased security
through the addition of park rangers who are being hired now; increased programming
and activities to bring people in and bring people back; and physical improvements
to the parks that will make them feel open and safe.
