SDOT to pave Boren Avenue and Madison Street starting this spring

SDOT has advertised for bids to pave two major streets on First Hill this year. The two streets are Boren Avenue between Broadway and Denny Way, and Madison Street between Terry Avenue and 18 Avenue East. Both streets link surrounding communities with downtown Seattle. If all goes well, paving could begin in late April, and be completed by October.

The result will be improved roadway surfaces that are smoother, safer, and quieter. This work is a part of an ambitious program funded by the Bridging the Gap transportation initiative. The goal is to pave more than 30 lane miles of Seattle’s arterial streets this year.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
