Fremont Bridge sidewalk and traffic signal work

SEATTLE-SDOT is working on the final phases of the Fremont Bridge construction project.

Drivers may occasionally encounter spot lane closures at the south end of the Fremont Bridge during the daytime, late next week or the following week. Crews will be connecting the traffic signal at this location to equipment in the new traffic controller box.

The contractor will need to close one sidewalk on the bridge at a time for a few hours, sometime after 8 p.m., on a date to be determined, late next week or the following week. The contractor will install temporary walkways in the middle of the bridge. Signs will be posted in advance so that pedestrians and bicyclists can efficiently switch to the other side of the bridge. The temporary walkways are necessary to allow the contractor to work on the underside of the bridge.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
