SDOT crews treat icy streets in north Seattle

(Seattle)-A half inch of snow fell in the north end of Seattle yesterday (Monday) evening, turning to slush. When temperatures dropped, the slush turned to ice, leaving streets in the north very slippery this morning. Some roads in south Seattle and downtown had a bit of frost, but were mostly bare.

Street Maintenance crews worked throughout the night and morning, sanding major arterial streets and applying de-icer where needed. Temperatures are expected to remain low throughout the morning, and crews will continue patrolling and treating streets.

To report street condition emergencies within the city of Seattle, the public may call 206.386.1218.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
