Temporary street closures near Seaview Ave NW for installation of new pedestrian signal

SEATTLE - Next week crews will begin installing a new pedestrian signal at the intersection of NW 60th Street and Seaview Avenue NW. This work is required for extending the Burke-Gilman Trail to Golden Gardens Park. To complete the signal work, the following streets will be closed for approximately 30 days beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, October 17th:

• 38th Ave. NW at Seaview Ave NW to BNSF railroad tracks (where road becomes NW 61st St.)
• 37th Place NW at Seaview Ave NW to NW 57th St

Traffic will be detoured from Seaview Ave NW to 34th Ave NW. Detour signs will direct large trucks to turn at 32nd Ave NW, and take NW Market St to 34th Ave NW.

Weather permitting, this work is expected to be complete by November 17th.

Advance warning signs for travelers will be placed at the intersections of NW 57th St and 34th Ave NW and NW 61st and 36th Ave NW. Warning signs will also be placed noting that the bridge through Seaview Place, heading north to NW 85th St, has a low clearance of only 9’11”.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $8 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
