Lane closures on S Dearborn Street under Jose Rizal Bridge to continue

Nighttime lane closures on S Dearborn Street, which began on October 1, will continue - allowing the contractor to do prep, washing, and painting of the Bridge structure over S Dearborn Street. The lane closures will take place between approximately 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. One lane will remain open in each direction of S Dearborn under the bridge during this nighttime work.

The contractor is currently working on the Bridge over the westbound lanes of S Dearborn Street, and expects to finish by the middle of next week. If this happens, work may shift to the part of the Bridge over the eastbound lanes as early as the end of next week (Friday, October 12). Otherwise, that work will start the following week (Monday, October 15).

The night work is planned Monday thru Saturday in October and possibly through the first weeks of November, if needed.

Pedestrian access to the sidewalk along the north side of S Dearborn Street will be maintained, as it has been for the rest of the project work. The non-traffic-related impacts of night work on Dearborn include: some localized noise from generators, air compressors, pressure washers and lighting the underside of the bridge.
