SOUNDWAY IS PRESERVED!

Mayor Greg Nickels announced today the city’s Soundway property in West Seattle will be preserved as open space. Councilmember Tom Rasmussen has strongly supported the preservation of Soundway West as open space. He's supported finding alternative funding for the Asian Counseling and Referral Service, Colman School African American Heritage Museum and the Wink Luke Asian Museum in the 2006 City Budget. Councilmember Rasmussen releases the following statement in response to the announcement that the Soundway property is going to be preserved:

"This is a win-win solution for these three great organizations and our precious open space. I am very pleased that the mayor has included this funding in his 2006 budget. I want to thank members of the community who have worked so hard to preserve Soundway West. This is a great example of how our neighborhoods can organize and bring about positive results."
