"Eccentric Seattle" screens 'Roy
Olmsted: Bootleg Czar'
November 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Eccentric Seattle, a new series on the Seattle Channel, premieres a new
feature this Friday, November 5th at 7:30 P.M. Friday’s episode, "Roy
Olmsted: Bootleg Czar", introduces viewers to the dapper cop turned ‘King
of the Rumrunners’ and the toast of Prohibition-era Seattle. This program will
be rebroadcast several times throughout the month of November.
Eccentric Seattle is hosted by J. Kingston Pierce, author of the book of
the same name. Each 5 - 7 minute program introduces viewers to the unusual,
obscure and outlandish characters and events that are a treasured part of life
in Seattle. Pierce celebrates the Emerald City as not only the town where the
Happy Face was born, but also where burghers once plotted to import ‘pure
young ladies’ from the East to marry local loggers. Whether about famous or
ordinary citizens, his selection of colorful and off-beat anecdotes provides the
basis for a fascinating cable series.
New editions of Eccentric Seattle will premiere on the first Friday of each
month and be rebroadcast several times throughout the month. Additional program
times are listed on our website schedule at www.seattlechannel.org
The Seattle Channel is available on channel 21 for Comcast and Millennium
Digital Media cable customers.
